Bathing Lagoon, an alternative rock band from Denver, Colorado, released their latest single "Chasing" on February 7th, 2025. The track starts with a classical guitar riff that drops into a downtempo beat reminiscent of artists such as Bonobo, but with a falsetto vocal closer to Jim James in style. After letting this play out the band moves into common time with a strong drum and bass groove. The vocals take on a more energetic quality while the lyrics describe grasping at something without satisfaction. "I can't let it go, I can't hit the brakes, it's like all I want is to accelerate." Then the song transitions back to the chorus. This ebb and flow continues while the group displays a wide range of influences while pushing the genre in a new and modern direction.
